Built for Central Wisconsin
One of the things we appreciated most about the article is that it captures something that has always been important to us: building homes specifically for the people and conditions of Central Wisconsin.
Building a home in Wisconsin isn't quite the same as building one somewhere with mild, predictable weather year-round. Our homes need to perform through freezing winters, humid summers, temperature swings and everything in between.
That's why we put so much emphasis on the building envelope, air sealing, insulation, windows, exterior doors and indoor air quality. These aren't just upgrades we talk about after the fact.. they are considerations that belong in the design and construction process from the beginning.
What Does Design/Build Actually Mean?
The Wausau Pilot & Review article also highlights our design/build approach.
At Jones & Jones, we bring design, selections, project management and construction together under one roof. That gives homeowners one coordinated process rather than having to navigate between a designer, architect, builder and multiple other parties independently.
Our goal isn't simply to make the construction process easier. It's to make the process more predictable.
A floor plan that looks great on paper still needs to work on an actual lot. It needs to meet Wisconsin building codes, accommodate mechanical systems, account for site conditions and ultimately fit within the homeowner's budget.
By considering those things together during the design process, we can identify potential problems before construction begins instead of discovering them after the fact.
And while we offer our own in-house design process, we're also happy to work with homeowners who already have plans or have chosen to work with an outside designer.
A Small Company With a Hands-On Approach
Jones & Jones has intentionally remained a relatively small operation.
We believe that gives us an opportunity to stay involved in the details of each project and maintain direct relationships with our homeowners and trade partners.
Our team works closely with Ott Development & Construction on the trade and field management side of our projects, combining design and general project management with experienced site project management, carpentry, and skilled trade work.
It's a partnership that allows each side to focus on what they do best while working together toward the same goal: building a well-designed, well-constructed home for the homeowner.

The Wausau Pilot & Review feature comes at an especially exciting time for Jones & Jones.
Earlier this year, we were honored to be voted Best Home Builder in Marathon County in the 2026 Community's Choice Awards.
That recognition means a lot to us… not simply because it's an award, but because it comes from the people who live and work in the communities we serve.
We've built our business right here in Central Wisconsin, and we're proud that so many of our projects, customers and relationships come from this area.
We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has trusted us to build their home, recommended us to a friend or neighbor, worked alongside us on a project, or simply taken the time to vote for and support our company.
What's Next for Jones & Jones?
We're continuing to grow - but deliberately.
Our focus remains on building a select number of custom homes each year while also developing projects of our own throughout the Wausau, Merrill and Central Wisconsin area.
We're especially excited about the opportunity to continue developing residential communities and creating homes that combine thoughtful design, quality construction and the energy performance that makes sense for Wisconsin.
